Updates From LO5 Owners
Alright, if you are running an LO5 350 in your third gen give us an update of how it's working out. How much trouble if any? Tuning hints. How much of a gain? Who all did the swap and has a 5-speed or 700R4? This is the swap I want to do for my 5-speed RS. I did a search and saw a lot posts so now lets hear some updates. Thanks.
i did the swap and put headers(flowtech 1 5/8's,2.5collector), a modded tbi with 55# injectors, 1 inch phenolic spacer, being backed by a t-5 w/ 3.08 gears.the motor was a 94' 350 out of a silverado ext.cab. the chip hasnt been touched and the only thing the 350 diddnt come with is the esc module.ive still got the 305 version that came with my 91 firebird.i have a 3"X14" open element air cleaner.although everyone says you have to mod your throttle braket i never had this problem.although this is my 1st swap, and a very little budget it turned out ok.im about to get a LT-1 cam from a friend i work with who has a 96 Z,but fastchip emailed me back and said that cam would be tobig for them to program into my car. Curious as how everyone else is doing this.my headers diddnt come with the hole for the oxy sensor but the fitting is therejust no hole,so i currently have no sensor and my exaust is not hooked up to the headers, and there is no y pipe either.but i like the 350 pretty good motor.no oxy sensors = 8mile to gallon.ouch.but it pulls much better than 305.
