Two Questions 4 U-Yes, I said You!

Thought that would get your attention I just bought a1988 Camaro SC about 3 weeks ago, as a summer builder/project car. I was told that the guy that had it before swapped in a L98 out of a Trans-Am, but junked the TPI in favor of the TBI unit off from the original LO3. My first question is, what visual differences besides the fuel systems are there to tell a L98 and a LO3 apart? And second of all; sometimes my engine will start fine, but other times it will start then quit, or then start and idle at 200 rpm-on the brink of dieing. Lately it has been doing just fine, since I sprayed TBI cleaner in it, but if I floor it from idle, it bogs as though it's not getting enough fuel. I replaced the pressure regulator, but it didn't make much of a difference. Any ideas on either of these problems will greatly help out another Camaro fan.

The owner before me took the tpi system off and put the tbi on...I don't have it. Not even sure if this is an L98...it runs like a 350, a starved 350 but never the less a 350. I'm not sure if I have a L98 with a LO3's TBI system(very likely), or just a stuttering LO3.
