New Track times......I guess I was wrong about the glasspack

Well I took the camaro to the strip tonight for the first time and laid down some numbers. I only ran twice, and remember my car is stock except opem element and a rigged glasspack exhaust w/ a little over 200,000 miles on the LO3. Oh yea, it is an automatic too. The first pass was the best, the car was at full operating temp and it ran a 15.745@86.01 w/ a 2.244 60'. The second run was after the car had cooled down an hour and a half, but the ouside temp dropped about 20+ degrees due to incoming storm. It was a 16.178@84.40 w/ a 2.426 60'. During the runs, I left it in Drive becuz my car shifts right at the redline anyway

Play with any of the base timing or fuel pressure?
I've noticed that leaving a stock trans in drive is sometimes the fastest way down a track unless you've got a shift kit or some sorts. My trans makes noises when I go from drive to 2nd and down to 1st. Then when I launch from either 1st or 2nd the pressure must be so high that the trans shifts isntantly. I LOVE it. Without me doing the upshifting and holding the gears the trans shifts at 4500, never higher but sometimes lower. If I'm on the highway it'll upshift at 3600 when I'm in PE (1/4 to 1/2 throttle). I have to lay the foot to the floor for it to even get to 4500. The problem with this is the stock servo. It'll hold 3rd gear and not shift into overdrive unless the pedal is 1/2 throttle. It keeps me legal so I'll probably not change this. Besides, I've still gotten the car up to ~140 on a 5 lanes wide NO traffic 1:00 am drive on the flattest stretch of rt270. Once a year is more than enough.
I'd try to shift it yourself and see if you can hear the trans change sounds. If anything it's fun for super slow speed downshifts before a turn .
Good luck getting the car faster. I'd like to see it below 15.5's with inexpensive modifications. People don't reliaze it but the timing chain on a 200k mile L03 is already probably pretty loose that doing the Lt1 cam swap and new springs might extend it's life. Nudge nudge wink wink.

Well I alredy have a new double row timing chain to go on it when I do the mods taht I spoke of in another post and the 416's that I,m installing have Edelbrock springs installed. I really hope to see an improvement. Oh yea my timing and fuel pressure are untouched. I've never even checked it in the three years that I've owned the car.
