Just letting anyone who cares know that my carb to tbi swap went flawlessly, my mpg is probably double now, as well as power. For questions: marhornetmech@cs.com.

Gee, and I never even knew you were in it.Are your saying you swapped to tbi from carb or the other way around? If you went to a carb from a TBI I could see getting more power, but more mileage, I doubt it, unless the TBI was way out of tune.

Yeah, I posted here before a while back when I was having some trouble with her...been out of the country for the past year taking care of some business. Now I'm back and making her road worthy again. Once my pipes come in the mail, she'll be back out there puttin' those hondas in their places. Went to carb from tbi. Was getting about 8-9 mpg city/ 10-12 mpg highway. Had poor responce, little power, really ran like s@#t. Sounded kind of rough and "lopey", thought it at least had a decent cam. Turns out it had something to do with the tbi/ computer 'cause now she's running smooth as a cadillac. Cam is coming soon, or at least 1.6 roller rockers to start.

Of course not, it's fuel injection. And as we all know, EFI (especially speed density EFI) can "adapt to a new setup."

I am glad your swap has made you happy.

I switched in a vortec 350 and stayed with the TBI system. I average 19 miles city- have not recorded highway mileage yet, but estimate it will be in the 25mpg range. The best track run for the setup is 13.81 @ 100.02, emissions legal and no SES lights.

I am interested to hear firm city/highway mpgs and track times when you get a chance.

Also what are you going to do with your SES light/codes?

I can see that it could be easy for a person to become disenchanted with the TBI chip programming process if it was attempted without a thorough understanding of what is required and how the systems work.
If those things are thoroughly understood, the right equipment is on hand and the right decisions are made in the process, I do not see how the TBI-chip programming process can fail. It is a really good system.
I had a 70 Chevelle with a transplanted 350 in it and tuning is much easier with the TBI system. I only log the data and make the appropriate changes to the chip. It doesn't get much better or easier than that.

Something about a few of these posts makes me think we have a couple of disenchanted grumpy grumps out there. The help and info is all available on this site- but if you guys choose to go carb- to each his own. I hope they work out well for you and you use them to whomp a couple of mustangs.
