305 TBI idling at 3000 rpm. help neone?
hey
i just got a 91 camaro RS and when i bought it the SES lite was on. i figured no big deal the car ran fine so i igured id bring it home and then figure it out. i was under the hood when i noticed that the throttle position sensor was disconnected, causing the car to run in open loop all the time. so i plugged it back in and now the car idles at 3000 Rpms. then, i unplugged it again figuring the revs would go back down. started the car back up, and it still idles high. whats going on? also, i rolled the car down the hill and popped it into drive so my tranny wouldnt fall out when i went to put it in gear. once it was in gear, i got on the gas pretty hard and when i let off the car was idling at 400-450 rpm (barely running) and when i put it in park it maybe crept up to 750. i dunno guys im totally baffled if anyone can help id much appreciate it (sorry for the longwinded description)

The IAC passage can't flow enough air to idle a 305 at 3000rpm. Therefore, if it was running at 3000rpm with your foot off the gas, the ONLY thing it could have been was the throttle not fully closing. Check out anything that could cause it to bind...
