305 buildup question
305 buildup question
Alright here's the deal: I have a 92 RS the mods i have done to it are as follows:
3.73 posi rear end
header back exhaust 3"
P&D racing transmisson 700r4, 2000 stall (chirps into third)
edelbrock intake
chip
little stuff like pulleys, spacer, etc.
I have a 305 complete sitting in my driveway, rather than messing around with an all new 350 or rebuilding one why not go with what i already have. I want to still run TBI because it works good for me dont want to spend excess money on wiring computer blah blah blah when i have stuff already. Looking to save up around a little more than a grand for the engine. what would be a good buildup for my car to run in the low 14's or possible even high 13's(not likely). I ran a 15.5 before the new tranny.

Well since you have a full exhaust and intake and such I would go with a heads and cam package and a TON of tuning. Any set of heads are beter than what the LO3 has (well to an extent). You already have a sweet driveline set up witht eh gears, posi, stall and tranny so you are on the right path. Look into getting some suspension upgrades. A set of lower control arms, relocation brackets, springs and subframes will do wonders for your car. You should knock some serious time off your ET if you rid yourself of the stock suspension. You will give up your third gear chirp though.

i would def. get new heads. and a cam. you might consider a 4bbl intake and adaptor, instead of the performer TBI. the other BIG gains you willl see is in burning your own custom chips. with the stall, and gears, you can get away with a pretty healthy cam. but to do that, computer work is going to be a must.
