Max potential horsepower?

are there any estimates as to the max amount of horsepower our system is capable of supporting? Im talking with a 454 TB and injectors, AFPR, fuel pump, the whole nine yards. What kind of power can that setup support?

Well many people are going to chime in on this because this has kinda been the controversial topic of the last few weeks. Well if you have every link in the system upgraded to handle the power, like you mentioned, and given that you have the best tuning possible I would say 300hp for a 305 and upwards of 375 for a 350. There are parts of the system that can handle a lot more power but you can only go so big on the cam and lose the ability to tune and feed it with enough air. Super Chevy right now is flogging a TBI set up to see what they get and they are using a 355 with a 4braller Holley set up. This setup can supply much more air than a 2bbl, however, they were only to crank out 409hp and 391 tq. When they swapped a carb on thewre to get a baseline of the motors potential they turned out 419hp and 421 Tq. While these numbers seem similar the carb averaged more power past 3000rpm. 10-15 across the board if I remeber correctly.

DUDE, i read that same article. The reason they lost power with the TBI was because of the FI unfriendly cam they had in it. I posted on here a couple of weeks ago trying to let everyone know about that article. For awhile i thought i was the only who had read it.

it really will be interesting when they use the smaller cam. I bet it will match the power of the carb set up. That is my prediction. The 4bbl set up is nice and can make 400hp but it just has a lot more going for it to make power than a 2bbl set up.
