okay i bought my LT1 camshaft

Okay i just bought my lt1 cam shaft with 2k miles on it with the lifters for only 43shipped.I was wondering how much horsepower can i see with just the cam install and the lifters. Also how will my car idle and what other small things do i need like can i run the car on the chip i got now from tbichips.com also how is my bottom end torque going to suffer i mean i dont want to be anu slower than i am right now with only 1 wheel spinning.Ive also got headers and i plan to get a borla exhaust i really want a throaty sounding exhaust would borla be the one for me espically with this cam going in my lil 305 tbi should sound mean now ....shouldnt it.Also if your running the lt1 cam what type of exhaust are you running.

Thanks for all the input:hail: :hail:

you will probably lose some noticeable low end power but definately make up for it in top end. Thats y you should look into some 3.73 gears and a higher stall torque converter. Also, the car will run with the chip that you have from tbichip if you bump the base time up to 8-12* but it will not be running anywhere near its full potential. I hear people say that they have problems with the LT1 cam causing the engine to run rich at idle if not tuned properly. A vacuum adjustable fuel pressure regulator that top down solutions sells could help you correct that. Or you could try to do some data logging and see if he can make you a custom chip, not as good as if you were burning your own chips but im sure it would run much better.

too hard to tell, its all in the tuning. But i would say if it is tuned right, id say 20HP, even more if you ditch those swirl port heads for the LB9 heads. Youll also want an intake to take full advantage of the camshaft. There is really no point in putting in a cam that big and keeping the stock intake. LT1 cam, Edelbrock performer carb or TBI intake, and some ported LB9 heads ('081' 305 TPI heads) should give you a really nice gain.
