454ss tbi guys, question
I have to get the linkage off, if I grind down this little black rectangle (circled) will it come off?
Thanks
Thanks
What exactly are you trying to do? Swap it with one off a stock tbi? If you are, yes you can grind it down but you will need to drill and tap a hole in it to secure it to the shaft with a small bolt or screw and some thread lock.

Sorry, but at the risk of sounding stupid, why not remove the screw from the other end?
edit: Alright, I understand what you want to do. That should work. The other way is to remove the throttle blades and shaft from your BB TBI and swap in the stocker. The holes for the butterflies are in the same place.

Yeah, you just need to grind the shaft down where its mushroomed, then the bracket will pop off. I had to do the same thing to mine, to get the TV hookup.

yes, if you grind that down, you CAN tack weld on the other one. dont try to take the screw out at the other end UNLESS you have the exact correct bit to do it, otherwise it will be toast and strip...
i know
but anyway, grinding will be easier than full disassembly- besides i dont think the hole patterns or gaps are the same on the bb and the sb tbis

The hole pattern is the same. The screws that hold the blades to the shaft are smaller on the SB. To use the SB shaft with the BB blades simply add a small washer with the smaller screw.
The gaps are not but that can be corrected by grinding the flats on SB shaft longer. The bit for the end screws is a T15 torx style. They come out hard because there is always a threadlocker added. If you can heat the screw first to soften the threadlocker, it'll come out easier.
