Ca Smog Update!!!!

SMOG UPDATE!!!!!

Before:
HC(ppm) CO(%) NOx(ppm)
15mph 121 1.09 2980
25mph 120 1.08 2645

After:
15mph 67 (110) .03 (.71) 1110 (772)
25mph 41 (85) .01 (.59) 981 (711)

The difference was that i replaced my bad cat and replaced my positive backpressure non-functioning EGR valve with a negative backpressure valve. Im PASSING HC and CO but still alittle too high on NOx. I do have tbichips.com stage 1 chip so im going to replace it with the stock chip, maybe replace the bousch platinum plugs for some AC Delcos, and turn the fuel pressure down. Any other ideas. The car was running hot when tested, and i have a manual fan switch, i wonder if keeping that on and keeping the car cooler will help keep the combustion temps down and reduce NOx.
I have til the end of this month to get it to pass, if i cant im going to have the car registered down here where i go to school. They dont require enhanced testing down here, only the idle and 2500rpm tests. And since my HC and CO are pretty low, im sure ill be able to pass.

anybody
i just looked a spark plug earlier and it had white ash caked on it so that cant be good. They are about a 3 years old and im probably change them tomorrow. I might be burning alittle bit of oil and i always have a small puddle of oil on my intake manifold, the valve cover gaskets are brand new so i am guessing it is the intake manifold gaskets that are bad. I have new gaskets and a performer tbi intake, so ill see if that does anything when i install it over spring break.

Someone has to have some comments, anybody..... i heard using a high octane fuel might help alittle.

High octance fuel AND an octane booster are a popular emissions in my neck of the woods. One of my friends went from non-passing to passing with nothing but that! HTH
