Fuel pressure booster questions

I tried to do a search on this and could not find much... Before I broke my fuel pressure guage, and with the car in park, when I leaned on the gas there was a noticable drop in fuel pressure... SOOO I looked around and found some different things, one was an inline booster and one was added voltage to the pump to make it pump a higher psi. Anyone have an opinion of either of these? I would think that a voltage adder would make your pump wear out faster, and i would like to know how an inline booster would help... does it basicly pull more fuel through the pump... wouldn't that wear the pump out too? Anyone ever used either of these? http://www.powerandperformancenews.c...&Store_Code=ZX and http://www.msdignition.com/np2002/np2002pd8.htm

Don't waste your money on either of those. Your FP drops under throttle because it is so weak. For a little over 100 bucks you can have a high flow unit from walbro.

What is the unit you are talkin about, a replacement pump? I can understand that a higher volume fuel pump will help (if that is what you are talkin about being a high flow unit from Walbro), but that will also throw more pressure in at non WOT, which will make it rich throughout, i just want more pressure at WOT... so these 2 I mentioned in the above post are not good investments?

I think Shiftys point was the stock pump even when new may be inadequate for your needs. i upgrated to a 85 vette tpi pump so that i would have adequate FP at WOT to feed my motor. since my original pump was 18 years old this was a nonissue as far as investment. i tried a GM vafpr but removed and instead ran larger injectors to feed it up top(WOT) and then got into tuning to take care of the daily driving issues. a vafpr will give you the FP you want at idle and a lot more at WOT. it just needs an adequate pump to feed it.

Don't forget about the pain in the *** of a job it is, or the fact that it will cost you about $300 to get put in.

WHOS BRIGHT IDEA WAS IT TO PUT THAT TBI PUMP IN THERE... should have left the v6 pump in there and put a regulator on it, v6 pump was higher volume... that thing was a pain to change, and how does anyone think you can drop that tank with out bending the fill tube... it just aint gonna happen! nor is it about to happen again!

actually i've dropped a 3/4 tank of fuel to change a fuel pump never bent the filler neck. Im running a V6 MPI pump with stock adjustable regulator on V8 TBI.

Your fuel rpessure regulator will keep the right amount of PSI entering your injectors and you will not run rich at idle. The rest will just travel down to the return line. It is a pain like gunny mentioned but it is "non bandaid" method to increasing your fuel suply.
