Moving 02 sensor to after y pipe???
Hey guys im wondering if i move the o2 sensor to right after the y union would i get a better reading for my datalogging? I mean im only seeing half the picture here and I will not commit to a wb o2 so i was thinking this could be the next best thing??? Im putting a 350 in and i know its going to need tuning, figure would be better n easier?

Each bank of cylinders is fed by both injectors, assuming you have a dual plane, so its really sort of an average of the two. If its unheated, you really want the 02 to be as close to the exaust ports as possible as the O2 has to be at around 600 or more degrees F to work.

I would get a heated o2 sensor thats not a problem. Im just doing an new ypipe and junk like that all the way back for my gf to quiet it up for her so i was thinking why not have the ecu o2 ran from after the y union, and then my pretty a/f ratio gauge from the 1 in the headers... I dont drive the 3rd gen much any more just cleaning it up for her and puttin in a new 350 for her.. Im even going back to putting the emissions stuff back on it so she dont smell like gas after driving it for an hr :-P....

I guess it would be alright. The exaust before the O2 must be air tight or itll throw the fueling off. Also the O2 will now be exposed to road debris such as rocks and water thats kicked up by the tires. The O2s location on just one side of the motor is satisfactory. Theres not much need to change it.

there were a few guys who did this several years ago. they had no issues with the O2 getting up to temp or anything like that. it would work best with a wideband if you want to switch to the lockers system. more accurate data and a faster sample rate is always a good thing
