My new custom intake!
I just finished building my custom intake. Idonno if anyone cares, but I'm pretty damn proud of it.
I cut the end off of the snorkel, put the stock flex tube on it (turned around). I found a Civic intake tube at Autozone and cut it then put a K&N cone filter on one end and stuck it in the flex tube. It has black duct tape on it to make it look cleaner and seal better, but it's held together by hose clamps.
I also beat the silencer out of the air box, and she likes it. She likes it alot. It sounds alot better too.
I learned a couple things with this project tho.
1) Wear a shirt when using power cutters that throw sparks
2) If your dad still half-owns the car, tell him whats goin on before he sees you hacking on yoru air box.
3)"Measure twice, cut once" is much more effecient/smart than "Guess and hack"

Yeah. Hotmail isn't wanting to attach them either. I'll have to wait till my dad brings his laptop home this weekend so I can make them smaller.
It realy does look cool tho! hehe

And 2.
You cant see it because the picture had to be so small, but I put the skinny, restrictive stock snorkel against the new tubing to show the difference...

I think the ones for the pickups that are featured there will be a tad high to get under a stock hood.

Yeah. It looks like it would clear at the engine, but wouldn't quite make it under the nose of the hood. My tubing all angles down.
I only payed 85 bux for it all (all I bought was the filter, $45, and tubing, $40), not much more than that would be after shipping, and I got the satisfaction of building my own stuff, and hours of hacking and hammering.
That one does look much cleaner though... oh well, duct tape rules! hehe
I think it added more torque and not so much top-end, because it pulls harder when I take off and mash it out of corners and too pass and such, but it doesnt realy have any more go-fast. Would explain why it sounds better too. Cars with higher torque/power ratios sound meatier. I may try putting one of those Tornado things in the air box and see if it smooths stuff out and will ad some top-end too...

Do the Tornado's help at all? I can get one dirt cheap from a friends totalled car.
I just wish I had enough money to afford a cam and heads instead of figurin out how to make otherwise useless stuff work.
