fuel pump /bragging

Hey guys, I dont post often cause I never really have much to say but I've been a member for a long time now. I just wanted to let you know I finally had to make the "fuel pump venture".. lol.. As I have read numerous times on the boards its a tendious and time consuming job. I did the whole prodject on my own with no help in about 6-7 hours.. I'm kinda proud of myself since its the first time and with no help anyway, I was just wondering if I have plenty of pump now to support any bolt-ons I want incuding a cam because I put a 92 350 TPI pump in it. Granted it is just a pump from autozone because I honestly COULD NOT wait the couple days it would take to have a walboro or holley shipped to me so I just got the best thing I could think of that was available RIGHT NOW.. I know the pump has high MUCH higher pressure than the stock pump since TPI runs at about 45psi but I was just wondering if it accually flowed more too?? I am planning to go with 305 TPI heads and an LT1 cam very soon and of course all the regular bolt on's like edelbrock intake, Holley TBI, Shorty headers, and I already have the K&N air cleaner and 3" cat back with a "muffler eleminator" I got off of ebay. Not to mention I found a nice guy on the boards here that has offered his services to burn a chip for me once the heads and cam are on since I dont own a lap top or have any idea what I am doing, those will be the only mods I would ever do to the car unless I got to an LT-1 which at that point I wouldnt need prom burning so please down flame me for not burning my own chips, I have thought it through and came to the conculsion it would be easy to just let someone do it this once. Anyway, please let me know the limits of the pump. #1 if it can support the mods I am doing here soon. and #2 If it could support the possibility of a LT-1 in the more distant future.. Thanks again guys for all the valuable information you supply on this site..

Any multi port fuel pump will support whatever you can throw at a TBI set-up. Even in its most radical form no 2bbl TBI set-up will ever need over 30psi. The TPI pump should still be able to support that PSI at high RPM's and power levels. The only way this pump would flow less is if you decreased the feed line size. Since you went with an OE replacment I would only worry about quality and reliability.

yeah

Yeah it runs quite well acually.. the high psi doesnt matter because the fuel pressure regulator just simply sends any "unused" fuel back to the tank.. so now I dont have to worry about starvation at high rpm's or ever having too many bolt-ons for the stock pump to handle..

The fuel pressure regulator will be able to keep up and keep the pressure where it needs to be just as WhiteGhost mentioned. The TPI pump is really a weak pump (for multi port) when high pressure is concerned.
