305 TBI, Cam, heads intake???

Ok, I have been reading the LT1 cam swap and I searched but could not find any concrete info on what would be best for 305 TBI.
1. What cam would be good?
I heard LT1 cam is good, but people say that 305 should have came with LT1 stock. So, what cam is better than LT1, concidering head replacement and a new intake.
2. What are good cheap heads?
Can you keep the stock heads and just get some better springs and rockers??
3. What is a good intake?
Or can you just go with a different injectors.

I plan on burning my own chips, so I am getting a prominator, however, my budget is very limited yet I still want to show of my 305 (120,000 miles, re-built top end, new cooling system, CAI hooked to open element) I will be getting some pics of my pro/am on my website http://www.krusaders.20m.com (its a pro/am website, however the name is from my old website) 20m.com doesnt have any free hosting anymore.

Thanks, and you guys are great help.
I just want to get the beast out of the 305

P.S. I have a 3inch dual exaust that came from factory rated 10hp more over stock. However I will change the exaust manifolds with some pacesetter headers with the y pipe.

G0D bless.

Have you read the "new to TBI" sticky at the top of the page? Most of your questions are answered in there. You will find that the LT1 cam is a great cam when you are staying with the stock heads or other untouched GM castings. The cam specs are right below the limits of such heads. If you are going with different heads I would go much bigger on the cam. That is of course if the heads are prepped for higher lift cams.

By the way. Don't go with pacesetter headers. Your money is well spent with quality headers.

I did read the new to TBI, however it never said what kind of intake is good for you. It only says that there are others out there, but are almost the same. I wanted to know which intake is the best. (however, i Might have read it wrong, and I will go read it again). Also, whats wrong with pacesetter headers?? They are about 300 bucks, which is the cheapest I could find that are street legal. Its insidous to spend like 600-700 bucks for headers. I'd rather sepnd that kind of money on getting some engine components, or even getting a trany for a bit more.

LT1 cam, there are few different ones I see on e-bay, could you tell me which one would safely fit a 305?
Thanks.

I read that you can put in a carb intake with a TBI spacer. Which carb intake would you recomend.
Do you how much the TBI spacers cost??

The TBI adapter plates range from 30 to 100 bucks. PAW sells them for our cars but I would have to dig up a link. Any LT1 cam will do but focus your search for any LT1 cam that came out of an F-body. Intake choice really boils down to what cam you have. Some intakes are desinged to work better with different cams. So it is really hard to say this one is better than that one when so many will really work well. It will boil down to personal preference and ease of installation really. Try a few searches for carb intake. Basic performer and wieand intakes are most popular. I would look at the Hooker 2055 headers. They are only 350 bucks and are pretty much the best made headers for our cars. Pacesetter headers have small primaries and collectors and are plagued with a sub-par y-pipe.

Monte Carlo SS heads are some good heads for the Lo3 motor. The LT1 cam is a good cam if you want power yet you still want to be streetable and not have a rough idle. As for an intake? There's that one edelbrock intake that they make for tbis. I think that's the only one they make though.

I had a Lo3 with SS heads, L98 cam, ported throttle body, hooker headers, underdrive pulley, and exhaust. It was pushing around 240hp or so. FAST? no...quick? A little...I used to run in the mid 14's with that setup in the car and on the freeway I would ever so slowly pull away from Z28s with exhaust. The torque was pretty good and the power held up to about 6k or so. If I had a custom chip burned then I probably would have been going even faster.

I have just about all of the mods your thinking about doing. I still have the Edelbrock Performer TBI to put on and the gears will follow shortly. I did the TPI 305 heads with a little work and an L98 cam. I also have the Hooker 2055's and I am very happy with them. A custom dynoed chip will be coming very shortly. Stay tuned.

Over all I am happy with the mods and hope to put our around 260 hp when all is said and done.
