lift capabilities

hey, does anyone know the max lift capabilities of the stock lo3 heads?

.460-480" is the generally accepted value. I would go closer to the .460" side for clearance and castings sake.

Yup. Each casting was slightly different over the years and you will basically find the same limit range on every stock GM casting. The only castings that came out of the box that could handle .500+ were on the Gen II and III motors. Staying at .460" would be playing it safe. Some vortecs are as low as .450". A little machine work can alleviate any head of this limit however.
