im looking at picking up a 86 Z28 the vin is 1G1FP87H7GL148051 which means its the lg4 engine code, the car is in an auction tomorrow and seeing how viewing of the car isnt alowed until an hour before the auction I wanted to know if the car was TBI or carb?????

 

should be a carb.

 

It would be a 4bbl rochester carb. My 86 Z-28 has the same thing.

 

The LG4 was the 305 option before the LO3 (TBI). It is a carb set-up with anemic performance like the TBI. The heads are fairly decent though and do not have the dreaded swirl ports.
