problem with edelbrock manifold and fuel lines

problem with edelbrock manifold and fuel lines

I got my new edelbrock intake manifold on, but the return fuel line on the back of my throttle body will not fit on with the little screw in vacum riser that screws into the intake manifold back there next to the egr valve. i thought about cutting the return fuel line and putting a piece of rubber fuel line in there to give it more flexibility to fit around the vacuum riser fitting.
1. any one else install this and have the same problem?
2. Is there too much pressure in the return line to cut the metal line and insert a rubber line in there?

Teh return line isnt under any pressure, but Id still avoid hacking it up. Probably better to try adn move whatever is interfiering with it.

it is a screw in vacum fitting that sticks up about 1 and 1/2". i am not sure what it runs.

aeroquip makes a synthetic flex line with push fit connectors. good stuff. i then used a compression fitting onto original hard line and used the AQ to the TB/ FPR/ FPG area.

Is it that fitting on the #8 intake runner? IIRC, thats for the HVAC controls on a stock setup. You could probably jsut move that to another port on the TBI if you have one thats not used. You can also try getting another fitting that doesnt stick up so high.

I had the same problem with mine. I just bent the line a little bit and it cleared. I put the lines in the throttle body without it bolted to the manifold to get an idea how much to bend it and how it needed to be. Just bend it a small amount, you don't want to kink it.

This is the correct way to solve your problem. The fuel lines can be bent out of the way but go slow and use a large set of pliers as to avoid any kinks. I will see if I can dig up a pic for you.

Yeah, I had the same problem with mine, I just bent the return line as these guys have suggested and it fits tight but it clears. I might end up getting another vacumm fitting in the future.

i ended up bending it down so it barely clears. no kinks, whew. got it all put back together last night, and took it for a spin. felt better in midrange. Then i stopped at Kragen "like a grown mans chucky cheese" , ended up putting an edelbrock open air filter on her too. I like!!!!! i don't get that stutter at hard throttle any more. and sounds so good, and looks very nice too. send me email if you would like a pic, i don't know how to get pictures onto here.

A lot of my pics are closeups and such like the above one. They are hard to make out to the non TBI nerd. I could put a page on my cardomain site with useless TBI pics.

I am sure he has more. About 4 years ago I was introduced to the digital world of photography and how easy it was to take pics of your car. Needless to say I singed out the companies $1200 sony whenever I could until i could get my own
