Is there a difference between the computers on the tbi cars will a chip from a 90 work in a 92 i dont see why not but Jet list different part numbers maybe to sell more i dunno? Also both manual cars.

 

89-92 F-Body ecms where all 8746 and proms will swap between each. The physical hardware is the same, but the firmware on the roms was different.

Actually, my mistake on that, the firmware is the same on any 8746, but differs with other previous ecms like the 8063, 7747, etc. So long as the prom was origionally for an 8746, itll work fine, with the computer at least.

 

IIRC the 89-90 ECMs on the Caprice were also 8746. Some people use the copcar chip from the 89-90 Caprice 5.7 9C1 copcar as the starting point for a 5.7 TBI in an Fcar.

The 91-93 Caprice (and Roadmaster and 91-92 Olds Custom Cruiser) ECM is the 6965, which is not like the 8746 so the 89-90 Caprice chips are not compatible with the 91-93 Bcar chips and vice versa.
