what is this?

what is the rockchester air tank? what does it do? is it important? can my car run ok with out it? etc.

That is the evap cannister. It collects the fuel vapor from the gas tank, and then at the proper time a noid will open and the vapor will be sent into the engine to be burnt.

It won't hurt anything other than tree's to have it off, but having it on will not effect your performance what so ever.
