Fuel backfiring out TBI

So I did a swap to the LT1 cam and am trying to just get it to start, I have the stock chip in right now but will burn one soon. I hooked everything up and when I try to start it, it will backfire fuel out of the TBI. Did I maybe drop the distributor in at the wrong spot? It seemed like there were only 2 spots it would seat fully at on the cam, because I forgot to mark the location when I pulled it Any suggestions guys?

Because it's backfiring out the TBI, would that mean its too advanced, or too retarded? Which way would I turn it to solve that and just get it close?

Which one is my ESC connecter, the one right next to the blow, 4 wires in a straight weatherpack? Anyone have a picture?

you may be 180* out on the dizzy. Get the motor to TDC on the compression strock, then drop your dizzy in. When the rotor is pointing, will be where you connect the #1 plug wire.

Well, once i drop it in with #1 being at TDC, its either going to be #1 firing or #6 firing, right? so if its still giving me trouble, instead of connecting to what i thought #1 was, i could just move them so where i had the #6 wire is where i put the #1 wire, couldnt i?

yes, move the #1 wire to where you currently have #6, then move the rest of the wires to the proper place, following the firing order.
