What would you pay for a 90 RS?

I found a very nice 90 Camaro RS 5.0L 305ci Auto.

All stock in really good shape, about 150000 miles on it. smokes alittle bit on start up due to worn valve guides. Flowmaster Exhaust, Painted Gloss black stock rims BC/CC. Very Nice metallic Red paint with flat black stripes. Not a t top car.

How much would you pay for it and how much do you think it would be worth in a couple of years if cleaned up more and couple of minor things fixed.

I would expect to pay $2500 or less for that car. These cars don't have any value even when fixed up. I had full coverage on my mint '90 RS (21k) and my insurance company told me they would give me $1200 for it if it got totaled. These cars are dirt cheap. I would buy it and have fun with it. Don't expect to make any of your money back at a future date unless you completely rebuild the car yourself and go all out with it. Even then it will miss a few key OEM words, Cough....z28....cough It has even less value when restored without those three magical letters.

Well he wants $2500 for it and it is in pretty good shape
car is very shiney Maroon with Satin Black SS stripes.COLD A/C. Converted to R134 A, Air Bag, PS, PB, PW,PL, Full Limo Tint, New Fuel Pump, Radiator, Water Pump, Thermostat, Heater core, and New Gatorback Surpentine belt. 80% tread left on tires, Custom Gloss Black wheels, Interior includes New Seat covers, a older CD player, and is VERY clean. THis AC works GOOD.....car needs a front Grill or to have grill repaired, and car smokes a little on start up but clears up. ( Mechanic said the Valve Guides are slightly worn.) This car drives Quiet and smooth down the road, Has a custom exhaust that has a nice rumble to it and this car is very dependable. Seats are ripped on the side bolsters but has the seat covers on it.

It sound slike a solid buy then. I would try to walk away with it for $2k to $2.2k. It has a lot of life left in it provided it has been maintaned. 200+k miles is normal for these cars. They are low output motors with few parts that run low RPM's when crusing. This equates to a long life with a ton of trouble free miles. You can have a lot of fun with that car. Worn valve seals aren't a big deal and most shops are competant enough to swap them. Given the price of the car that may not be a $500 repair that you wish to pay for. You can do it yourself for much less though. None the less you will only have to live with a slight buff of blue fog at start up. Sounds normal for a car like that.

Wow that is a clean car for 150k! Is that the stock paint? That would be an amazing feat to see Van Nuys paint last 150k. That car is worth the price.

I'ld give him 2K for it. You're going to need to repair the heads, but at $500, I would just assume buy new heads that flow better. Also, at 150K miles, I would think the tranny is about to implode on itself. The people I bought mine from used some sticky stuff from Autozone or whatever, to cover up the miss when I test drove it. About 4K miles later it grenaded itself on I-75 in rush hour. A rebuild will cost you atleast a grand. It's a sweet looking car, but tread carefully.

In that case, then I might agree with Shifty on the price. A full tune up is probably due ($200) and I would probably do a rear-end rebuild after so many miles and years (with a torsen diff and some better gears of course . Make sure the A/C condenser isn't leaking either. . . .those things are expensive as crap.

I want a car thats gonna last me for a while and something I can depend on and fix up a little for a nice daily driver till I get my chevelle driving and then maybe at least get my money back out of it if I sell it.... What kind of gas mileage do you think it will get?

My friend has a 89 Iroc that has the front grille with the fog lights I was wondering if I could put a grill like that on it?

Looks like a good car so buy it.

Looks like you have already made your mind up so buy it, again.

Just understand the 90 RS is low on the resale value pole. If it was a 92 Heritage or just a 92 RS-Z28 then you could worry about resale value. But 90 was the wrong year beacuse that would make it the 23rd anniversary model and well you know...

However the car seems to be well kept up and that in itself makes it worth $2000.00.

Have fun.
