k fellas i pm this question to a couple of people that have been helping me lately but my die grinder will be here soon and i wanna go ahead and get these cause they havent had a chance to get back to me on this one yet i just found where i can get the sanding drums in singles for bout 50 c each. i need to know how many of each i should get i have found as follows to work on the 081 heads:

Spiral roles (dia. x length x hole size for cartridge mandrel)
sizes 3/8*1*1/8 for 60-80-120 grit (how many of each grit do i need)
spiral roles
1/2*1*1/8 60-80-120 grit (same thing)

Straight rolls
3/8*1*1/8 60-80-120 grit
1/2*1 1/2*1/8 60-80-120 grit

Flap wheels for about 3.50 a piece but i was under the impression all i would need is one 120 grit for the exaust ports??

all i need to find is cross buffs now same company may have them but havent found em yet i will need 2 med 2 fine i think but not sure...sorry for the dumb question but i have no clue how many it will take to finish the cylinder heads and i dont wanna waste the money and get way to many i already have the grinding stones and 2 1/2 inch cylinder double cut carbide and a 6 inch radious tree double cut carbide

i know this is a dumb question to many but ive never ported heads before and ive searched the threads and all ive come up w/ is that the standard abrasives kits are over priced for what u get i just want to know so i dont buy twice the ammount i need but still enought to be safe if that makes since.

 

please some one help me out i really need to order these and id hate to get half way through and have to go back and order more....i really just need someone who has ported heads before to let me know how many they used....i have the die grinder and rpm controller, and carbide bits..all i need is these which i have found just need to know quanity, and then find cross buffs thanks for the replies

 

please guys i have searched all the threads i found on home porting heads and this question is not answered in there it all just says i will need tham please simpithize and help me out!!

 

Generally at this time of day not too many Thirdgeners are on the boards, which is why you didn't recieve an immediate reply. On top of which, I have no idea how many of us know the number of bits you need for porting, but I know I sure don't (sorry ) You may have to wait till tmo to do your ordering after everyone has logged in in the afternoon and had a chance to read your thread. well i ordered today and got one 120 grit flap wheel....one manrel for the cardride rolls....10 of 60, 80, 120 grip tapered cartridge rolls. 6 10 10 straight 60, 80, 120 grit ones if thats not enough ill have to get some more i guess only thing that place didnt have were the croff buffs i havent been able to find them anwhere here in lex. ky i guess its to the internet then but i got a lil time before i need those since i think they are just used on the combustion chambers. thanks for the help guys
