91 Caprice Intake on my LO3?
im lookin for an intake for my 89 305 tbi. i found a cheap manifold off a 91 caprice cop car (9C1). i cant find anything that says if it will or wont fit on my engine, or if the tb is gonna fit.
basically, is this a direct fit?

That'd be the same intake manifold you have right now. I wouldn't do an intake as your first mod to the car, if in fact this is your first mod. What are your plans with the car?

On the intake manifold itself, as far as TBI placement, attachment, and port locations to the heads -- is the same. IOW fit and function is the same on the Fcar as the Bcar.
BUT, the distributor "hole" is not the same. On the 91-93 B platform TBI cars (Caprice, Roadmaster, Custom Cruiser) the intake manifold had an oversize distributor hole that was also recessed slightly (IIRC). The distributor used on those cars had a shaft housing with a flange to exactly match the size and depth on the manifold, and as I understand it, the shaft on that distributor was also a different (smaller) length.
The purpose for using the one-off manifold was to allow removal/install of the distributor within the tight confines of the cowl overhang, so a special disttrib/intake was needed.
So you could use it on the Fcar but you would need the matching distributor to get it to bolt on and work properly.

Well yes and no. I agree that an intake swap shouldn't be the first mod. Cold air intake is an easier/cheaper DIY swap, but the most bang-for-buck will always be the exhaust. I don't agree on the intake comment though -- it's not the same.
