Is this deal for a tbi worth it?

Hello i know someone that has a Tbi that has ben ported and polished to 2'' and also has a edelbrock intake manifold performer tbi that also has ben bored to match the tbi unit, the tbi i think is a 350/with 454 injectors or something like that im not sure how would i be able to find out? but it looks very nice, he wants $150 for it. is this a good deal? The combo looks very clean and he said that it was blueprinted also? Would it be worth is to use this tbi and learn how to program this type of fuel injection? or just use a good old carb set up? I plan on getting a 400sbc or a 350 sbc chevy with a good cam, and maybe some aftermarket heads.

any thoughts or ideas would be great!

thanks

A 2" unit will either be a holley unit and or a GM 454 TBI unit. IIRC the stock 305/350 TBI units can only be bored to 1-13/16 before you cut into the vacuum ports.

$150 sounds good. Having the intake bored is worth it because it is a pain to do.

You can tell what injectors it has by referencin the colors that are on top of them. There should be an injector identification chart somewhere in the stickies linked at he top of this forum.

Those parts are not needed on your current motor until you have a cam and exhaust. You will also want to be skilled at tuning before you swap TBI units.

um, if you're getting both the throttle body and the intake manifold, I'd say that's a pretty amazing deal, considering the manifold alone is like 130 if I remember correctly, and it's already been bored to 2" for you, at that point the tb is a bonus, and a damn good one at that.

correction, the tbi intake is 240.

ya, i'm thinkin it's a pretty good deal.

130 to 500 bucks depending on the bells and whistles.
