gutless 2nd gear

Hey guys. Was just curious as to if all these 305s are GUTLESS in 2nd gear. its horrible i have no plugs wires cap and rotor and i still feel some sputtering at the top of 2nd. is it time to clean the upper intake? i was also thinking about swapping in a 350, but my question is if it is worth putting another tbi motor in it or goin for a 350 TPI.

Although the LO3 is low on power in stock trim you should not have any sputtering. Have you checked all the basic problem areas? Timing? Fuel pressure etc etc?

I would start there.

If you have the stock heads 0° to 4° is all you need. Going higher has negative results.

what are you supposed to disconnect to set the base timing? i hear there's a big weatherpack connection somewhere. but i don't know what they're talking about.

IIRC it is a light brown or beige wire (single wire) coming out of the Passenger side harness in front of the heater/ac fan motor area.
