will vortec heads work on 305 ?

will vortec heads work on 305 ?

i seen some heads for the 350 i beleive they are called vortechs they are like 400 bucks. do you know if they will work on the L03 fine if i get a new intake and carb ?? cause they need a special intake manifold right ?

The vortech heads will work great on your L03. They do require a different intake manifold, but its worth the money. They are about the best buy for the money that you will ever find. If you change you cam at the same time you will really wake up your stock motor.

Wwill it still pass emissions test? I saw an add for vortec heads with the bolt patern for L03 manifold. its like $40 more.

Not MAY have to, but WILL have to. The stock LO3 heads have 58cc chambers and pretty thin gaskets. The Vortecs have 64cc chambers and most of the good head gaskets are fairly thick. This will kill your compression, if you don't mill 'em.

Ok, well I did some homework. I found out that the heads need to be milled 0.045inch and use thin 0.015inch head gaskets. Bolt patterns are diff. so a vortec manifold(check edelbrock) will be needed, or have your current one drilled to fit. Now as for emissions I still havent herd $hit.

They dont have heat crossovers... thus no EGR.
