500 to spend on mods
500 to spend on mods
Ok, say i had 500 bucks to spend on making my car faster. All the mods i have are listed in my signature. What else would you guys recommend doing? I know my car will never be crazy fast, but more than 170 HP would be nice.

Yeah, do the headers (SLP Headers or Edelbrock TES Headers (and get the TES coated) The part number for the TES's are #6872, I am not sure what the part number for the SLP's are. As for the exaust, go with anything 3". Like a flowmaster cat-back (but loose the cat and just use a 3" pipe to connect the pipes where the cat used to be).
Or you could do gears. GM Motive 3:42's or 3:73's and get an Auburn Posi Unit for a 10 Bolt and get make sure you get the same carrier gears size as the carrier in the posi unit. You can decide on either one, headers/exaust is a great mod and so are gears.

OK...thanks...i already have richmond 3.73's, but if i get headers are they street legal? I have to pass e-check here in OHIO so i would definitely need the cat too. What is the best sounding cat-back system that you guys have ever heard....maybe i should ask in the exhaust board too.
do you have a good posi to go with those gears? slp has torson units for $100.
headers are a good idea. edlebrocks are what i use and i am very happy with them. they come with all the enviro provisions on them. as far as cat backs it is partially a matter of taste. and almost all the header kits come with a new y-pipe to replace the factory junk.
flowmaster and edlebrock both have a deep rumble and fairly soft idle note. the hooker rig is a little louder and the slp stuff is way over priced
all of these kits can match up to you factory cat.
other than the exhaust and the posi chunk if you need it, i would do all the free stuff and the ultimate tbi mods. just save up until you have enough money to get a manifold and all the stuff needed for the install.
