Someone posted that the rs with the z rims do not have these well they were wrong. Does anyone know how to remove the speed limiter it cuts out at 110?It feels like there is a lot left go and ive heard that the top speed is around 150.Its a 92 rs 305 v8

It's in the tech section.
OR, buy a Chip that gets rid of it.
JET Stage 2 does I think.
Hypertech thermomaster does not, nor does their street runner chip.
Top speed as o can remember is 148. However, I wouldnt want to be going that fast for very long. I-29 is good at a few before midnight, except that there are deer out durring this time of year. The cops change shifts over here at midnight.

Yeah i got a real good place to go fast it is basically a paved road out in the middle of nowhere. So you can do it during the day Im getting the air filter today. HP motorsports ended up not having it in on friday so they ordered me one. Also i got my posi traction in from slp so ill be getting my gears changed probably sometime this week. when i do ill give you call and show you how much it improves your acceleration.

If you find that too complicated like I did, read this, it's much easier to understand.

vss disable (speed sensor)
DISCLAIMER: If you kill yourself speeding do not come complaining to me. You do this mod completely at your own risk.
Parts:
Good quality wire
A switch
Theory:
The speed limiter came of all cars ordered with tires under a given speed rating. The Speed limiter works by cutting either spark or fuel (or both, I don't remember) when the ECM senses that you have reached a given speed (usually 114). It recieves this signal from the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) Buffer. Thus the solution is simple. You simply cut off the signal from the ECM, it then has no idea how fast you're going, and it doesn't cut you off.
Procedure:
1. Drop down the ECM from under the passengers side dash. You will notice that it has quite a few wires, in groups of 4 rows, labeled A, B, C, and guess what? Yup, D. If you look closely each of these wires is labled on the plug where it goes into the ECM.
2. Find the wire labeled A 10. It should be dark brown.
NOTE: This is on TBI cars. Wire colors and locations tend to vary by year and model, I am not sure if this wire does or not. IF you find A10, and it's not brown, it's a good guess yours is different. Find a good wiring diagram of your ECM and find out which wire the VSS Buffer is.
Anyway, Cut wire A10. Strip the ends off the wire, and splice each end into a longer piece. Run one of the wires to each terminal on the switch. Mount the switch however you wish.
Side Effects:
None really. Leave the switch ON for normal driving. Turn it OFF to go above the limiter. After a few minutes with it OFF, your ECM will throw a code and the check engine light will come on. Your torque converter if you have an auto will not lock up either, but that is harmless for short term. Both will return to normal shortly after you return the switch to the ON position.

There has been a lot of discussion on the top speed but I venture to say that a stock RS, even with a few minor bolt ons will go much past 130. If you have an auto and can run in OD at WOT then you may be able to pull to 130 but if you have a 5-speed with a 0.63 5th gear and the stock 3.08 gears you can forget ever making it to 130 unless you are going down hill or on a long straight away. My stock 88 305 TB with the 3.08 and 5speed would run to 118 in 4th and just die in 5th and maybe pull to 120-125 and that was holding it down for a little bit. If you got lower gears you may be able to pursade the car to pull in 5th to a higher mph and with a Auto running WOT in OD you should be able to pull to 125-130 but no where near 148. THe stock IROC-Z 350's would pull to 150 but it does have a lot more hp and torque.Originally posted by BLUE92RS:

By the way, get a aluminum driveshaft before running flat out b/c the steel driveshaft isn't safe above 100mph (I used mine for years with it vibrating and was stupid) if the u-joints ever break or the driveshaft some how comes out then you are looking at a very dangerous situation and may cause you to wreck/flip. Oh, good tires are a plus also
