350 TBI and ECM on 305
350 TBI and ECM on 305
I know that the subject of using mismatched injectors and ECMs has been covered and dismissed as unwise, but has the subject of using a complete 350 injector and ECM combination been covered on any posts? It would seem to me that if a 305's air movement could be improved such that it flowed like a 350, then the complete system could be used similar to larger jets in a carb. Also, I recently purchased a 305 from an '87 automatic Tuned Port car that is supposed to have the 10088155 cam (same as my original). Turns out it has the 140923643 cam. The owner of the car was the original purchaser and never had any engine work done. Will I have any problems with me ECM if I use this cam. I am currently 305 TBI automatic stock chip. Thanks!

It may run ok with the cam. If the powerband is really close to the stock 305, it will run close to how it ran stock. Once the engine starts to stray from stock, though, then it starts to throw things off. The ECM also has the cylinder displacement rolled into the BPW constant, so the engines displacement also needs to be taken into account.
