I was wanting to put a straight pipe where the cat is right now but I was woundering if that tube that runs into the side of it was the o2 censor and if so what would I do with it if a where to put a straight pipe there.

Also I was woundering if it were posible to put side pipes on a TBI firebird and if so has anybody done it beofore?

that tube is from the AIR system the o2 SSSSensor is in the driver side manifold

and you can put sidepipes on anything, if going full hideous is your goal then by all means put them on your thirdgen however the hot rod gods will be most displeased since they look so aweful
