way to tell if heads are cracked?

there was a paint type spray on TV but I dunno what it was called or where to find it. I wana grab some heads from the junkyard and see if they are cracked before I buy them.

this stuff was almost like machineist dye in a spray can. You spray it one color(red), then the other(blue) and all the cracks show.

Thats a good idea, as the yard probably won't let you take the heads from the lot to test them before buying. Even after you buy them it might not be a bad idea to have them magnafluxed, as some of those hairline cracks are almost microscopic.

nah the whole point of the spray kit was to do it right there. It was meant for junkyards and swap meets.
