What do you think I could do against a 3.8L

I know this is a racing topic, but I have to ask the TBI guys because you guys have probably been here before. How do you think my car would run against a stock 2001 3.8L Camaro? I have flowmaster cat-back, open element, basically stock on my 305 TBI. However my 305 runs very well because the previous owner took very good care of it. I know the new V-6's come with 200 hp and 225 ft-lbs at the flywheel, so they might get me slightly on the horsepower, but I believe I've got them on the torque. Both are automatic transmissions. What do you think?

my brother has a 99 firebird with the 3.8.
He runs 15.7 @92.5mph in the 1/4mi stock. So if your car is faster than that, you should beat him. good luck

You should be able to hold your own with no major problems. Big thing here would be who is the better driver. The cars are close enough in straight line acceration that driver error would become a factor.

But here is a great experiment:
Sit him in your car and have him drive the **** out of it. Now, put him in his car for a direct comparision. That smile he had on his face in your car is called tourqe. Sure, his has 225 yada, yada. But torque is not as easy to enjoy in a V6.

I almost bought a 2000 Camaro V6 for a daily driver, but it just didn't feel strong to me. I would take a slower V8 over a faster V6 (within reason) anyday for the above reason.

should be almost even, depends on the driver I guess, make sure all your tires have the right pressure and you have a clean air filter, stuff like that will help.

that would be a fun fight at a track. i fi was stock i would be looking to do some quick little mods, like ultimate tbi, to try to tilt the playing field. with minor mods the 3.8's can go 15.0. i saw it and lost to it, greeat motivation for what my car is now though. i couldn't belive i got dogged by a 6cyl.
