tuning tbi - tech articles, books, etc...?

Do any of you good people know of any resources that specifically cover throttle bodies that includes tuning them, exactly what affects them and what they affect?

And, are there any modifications you can make to the exhaust system without changing major components? Thank you.

you just posted your message on it. most of the other info in books and stuff that i have seen was reall half assed, usually done by carb guys who wanted to try something "high tech". this place is the best source of info i have ever seen anyway. and don't call the "experts" at turbo city either, their knowledge seems to be mostly in trying to get money from your wallet.

I realize that this forum is second to none when it comes to tbi. But just as there are tech articles on such as Super TBI,which deals primarily with air intake, I was wondering if there was an article on the mechanisms of the throttle body unit itself and how to tune then properly with maybe some parameters to go by.

I just bought Hot Rod Magazine and CarTech's Camaro Performance 1988-1996 book. Most of it deals with the 93 and up Camaros but there are articles in their on the third gen cars. One involves a buildup on an 89 TBI 305 Camaro. The other involve a parts test on the 305 before they drop in the 350 crate engine and after the 350 swap as well as suspension tech articles and some other performance tech articles. The book is betwenn $17 and $18 or you can find these tech articles on Hot Rod's archive site but you will be charged $2 for each article. The articles you'll be interested in on the archive site are "F Notes", "Fast-Forward F-Body", and Clean Team". There is also a book entitled "How to Tune and Modify Your Camaro: 1982-1998". It deals wit all of the cars from those years and is full of all sorts of tech articles. There isn't a lot on the TBI and most if the TBI stuff is stuff you'll see posted here on the board but all the other in fo is worht the price. Its the same price as Hot Rod's book.

1988 Camaro
305 bored .030 over
Stock TBI
Aluminum radiator
No smog pump
gutted factor cleaner
cam ground to crane specs
timing advanced 9 degrees
no thermostat
other than that its bone stock and ran a 16.4 @ 82 mph with earth shattering wheel hop and a 2.88 60 ft time. (this was with the rebuild and cam only)

tuning your tbi is all about the chips

you have to learn how to do your own chips

this site has a prom board and an article on that very subject
