anyone done 305 TBI to 350'Vortec TBI and kept the egr
I posted this on the engine swap board but thought I should have posted it here. If anyone has done this swap and kept the EGR, which intake did you use and how did you deal with the following?
1) Heater hose? Did you reroute it to the front?
2) EGR hose- how did you get it to clear the fuel line? Did you use a 90 degree fitting out of the manifold or did you have to reroute the fuel lines?
3)How did you attach the EGR hose to the headers? Do you have to drill a hole in the header tube and weld on the adapter? Any clearance problems because that EGR hose is bIG!!
4)All of the other issues like modifying the throttle bracket and other brackets changing the brake vacuum line etc I think I have figured out. Anything I didn't think of?
I haven't seen any posts by people running the egr on this engine so I hope someone has done it and can help me out. thanks very much.......bob

You need to fab up some kind of external system from a truck or ford (never, so truck is a better idea). Vortec heads don't have the heat crossover passage so no intake manifold is going to help. If you're worried about passing visual emissions then paint whatever manifold you get black and make it sprinkle on some dirt while the paint is still wet, burn some oil on it and you have the stock intake manifold look but if they look they'll see the different bolt pattern and obviously no EGR passage. It's a PITA to fab up the external EGR from trucks but if you have to then it's your only option. Well that or move to a state like Florida
