I have a drop base open element air cleaner with a 14 by 3 inch element. Should I raise the whole air filter assembly up using an air cleaner spacer by 3/4" or just buy a new 14 by 4 or 5 inch air filter?

 

do you have a cowl induction hood or something you arent telling us. cuz there isnt room to raise a dropbase with a 3" filter. nor room for a larger filter than that. if you had a non drop you would only be able to have a 2.5" i think.

 

i think i know what you mean... No you cannot use a drop base filter without using the stock spacer ring
Yes you can use a non drop filter without the spacer ring and using a 3" tall element
Yes you can use a drop base filter with the stock spacer ring and the 3" element
No you cant use a taller filter on either
