I have a 91 pont firebird, 305 TBI
now, ive been looking up information, studying. researching. and i must be losing brain cells. cause i cant find anything.

i want to, of course. bump up power. its pretty stock. just did a fulllll tune up.
im redoing exaust soon with edelbrock. but how can i help the engine. and i know heads. but $$.
i think i might need a new fuel pump because after awhile. she will surge occasionaly. but the loss of power is dramatic from time of starting the car. till warmed up and after like 15 min.

but where Do I start?? should i switch to Tpi or where to go?

is ur car throwing a check engine code?? if so get one of those little keys and see what it is, that should tell u ur problem right there. If u need more info on that let me know i can help u with that.


well i didnt see anything in ur sig about any kind of drivetrain mods, gears/shift kit/converter. All of these mods together are good for well over a second in ur quarter mile. I would start with a shift kit for 25$, B&M makes it and summit sells it. If ur stuck about doing motor work than consider some 1.6 RRs or maybe just change the cam all together. Depends on how far u wanna go. I wouldnt recomend a TPI swap, not at this point atleast. I mean for the 700$+ ot would cost its not really ur best bet at this point. Just get the car running good and strong and maybe have some gears thrown in and than start talking about a TPI swap.

if its stock start with the small bolt on stuff first. TBI spacer, ingintion stuff, 1.6 RR's,shift kit... stuff like that will help when your first starting out. then after that is when you can get into bigger projects headers, cam, heads, gears. thats basically what ive done . Another thing that i did was to get a calander and for each month i wrote down what parts i wanted to buy for my car that month as well as the cost of these parts , that will help for budgetting purposes as well.

yep i do the budjet allot.
the tpi swap would prob be around 400 max for what im told everything.
how much would the cam cost? but then i hear of people speaking of performance kits. matching lifters. springs. cam etc. and i heard tpi cams differ from tbi?
