NOT GOOD

I made a cold air/ram air sort of setup on my 305 TBI. I drove a while and remived the air filter to see if the intake lets in more dirt. I found that my cold air intake lets gravel into the housing. It did not get past the filter, but I need to solve this problem now. Any suggestions besides scraping the whole thing? I was thinking screens.

Yeah, just put in some screens. You should be able to find something at home depot like screen door material and use that...

A screen from a home depot or somthing like that would be perfect!! I had the same problem with my home made ram air then i just bought some screen(like the one they use in doors) and it kept all that stuff out.

I was goign to do that with my car, and for the pre-filter to use an old thin sock or panty hose. A screen would be nice but bugs would clog it. A sock you could remove and wash or put a new one on it in a matter of minutes. They both have their advantages.

Btw what did you construct your cold air intake out of? I was considering aluminum downspout drain gutter stuff. Its like 2" x 3.5" square and would fit nicely. I'm just worried i'd get it too close to the belts!

I used an aleuminum dryer vent hose. I also didn't run it up past the belts. I removed one of the horns and ran it up through the driver's side fender. I'm not sure if it has too many bends in it or what. I would think it slows the air down more. Well, it's better than the stock, but I will probly just use some screen. I'm not too picky about bugs. As soon as I can figure something out, I might run the hose between the belt and fan, but for now, it wors good. I hope that gave you te info you needed.

That was my first idea, but it seemed a bit clunky.
