Alright guys, this isn't technically a third gen question, but I've found so much usefull info on here for my 88 TA that I thought I'd ask. I have a 89 GMC Sierra with 350 TBI. The motor knocks. I have a 73 4-bolt short block all rebuilt. Can I bolt the TBI heads and everthing on the older block and make it work? Not looking for high performance, just a strong reliable motor. I'd appreciate any help and thank you in advance.

I believe everything will bolt up with no problems but you will need to change the flexplate or flywheel too one thats made for a 2pc rear main seal crank.

the older block also has "towing" cam in it. will this mess with the fuel injection. I've read alot of the posts before asking my question, but the are geared towards performance, I just need dependability. thanks

No, it will be fine. It's probably a 204/214 or so cam.Originally Posted by trans1973

If they are stock dish (-13cc) than they will be fine, about 9.3:1 with the '193 heads your gonna use.
