injector pulse

Hi all, so I'm still working on my 89 305 tbi. and when I start it...It will start...and keep running....IF...I keep reving on it(pumping the gas) then and only then will the injectors spray...it won't idle...cause if i stop reving they stop pulsing and the engine dies.....now on to my car....I had done a v6-v8 swap on this car...and had to swap harnessed/computer(I had to splice(solder/heat shrink the wires at driverside fire wall)....I later found out the other car(donar car) had vats...well when I swaped the harnesses...since my other car did'nt have vats the starter worked fine... and the ign. coil has great spark....the only hang up is idle.....could this be a vats problem if I can still get the injectors to pules by reving it...or is it something else....I rebuilt the distributer...and ohmed out all the wires(checked good) so can anyone help??

Possibly. Id have to check, but there may still be accel enrich, which when you pump the throttle would cause the computer to give a momentary shot of fuel. If the current ECM has VATS, then you need to reprogram the PROM to disable it before proceeding any farther.

www.moates.net. ~$120 dollars and you can burn the prom yourself and not only disable VATS, but tweak the performance as well. Well worth it for future mods.
