TPI fuel pump in a tbi car?
Want to switch from TBI to TPI...so I will be getting a new Walbro High-Pressure
255 ltr/hr pump.....however...About a year ago I got a flowmaster exhaust installed at a muffler shop...and they welded everything....I was thinking of taking my car to a shop...and have them do the fuel pump swap....so they can weld the exhaust back together..and i wont have to deal with it...first..it shouldnt be THAT much money in labor should it? Second...will my TBI system beable to handle the new fuel pump....it'll only be temporary (from the shop back to my house)....I am a bit confused because I know TBI uses like 12psi fuel pressure...and TPI around 40 or so...but will the TBI regulator do its job and take it all the way down? Thanks for the info. Also...any recommendations as to where I should take it? Should pretty much any shop beable to do it? Should I be there and watch and make sure they do everything right?

That is a good ? I want a new fuel pump too but I am afraid if I do it to soon before any major mods, that it will flow to much.

Well after a bit of research (actually a lot) it SEEMS as if any fuel not used is just returned back to the tank....but I still dont know if the dramatic difference in pressure will affect the TBI system...anyone???

Been there, done that. Using the Walbro 255l/hr pump with no problems. The pressure regulator in the TBI will work just fine. While you're doing the swap, you might as well put a fuel pressure gauge in too...

I'm going to be getting the Walbro this week. I'm pretty sure this stock pump isn't giving me enough fuel pressure at WOT.
As for high pressure pumps etc. it doesn't really matter unless the pump was specifically designed for high pressure only. The more important factor is flow. The fuel that doesn't go into the engine will return through the return line and if it flows well then the fuel lines will stay cooler. That's a good thing. Just make sure you watch the fuel pressure.

So how would I install an electronic pressure guage on a tbi car?
