Lo3 drag racing help.

My friend went out with me today with his Gtech and we tested my car.

First time I raced it I reved it to 1000 RPMS and had it in OD and just mashed it after that. I got a 17.1!

Second time I raced it I manually shifted at 5000 RPMs and I reved it to about 1300-1500 RPMS and launched. My tires spun a little, but I got a 15.79 that time.

Next time I also manually shifted but shifted at 5100 RPMs and I must have launched at 1200 RPMs, my tires didnt spin at all and we thought it woudl be a bad run, but I got a 16.3

Next time was similar and I got a 16.2 I think.

Im not sure where I should be shifting and what RPM I shoudl be brake standing till. He didnt have time for anymore runs, but next time I go I want to know what to do. Is it best to have my tires spin a little bit? also what RPM should I be shifting at on my shifts? Im not sure if the 15.8 was a fluke or not. I also didnt race with my cutout open. What would you suggest I do next time I go out?

well your always gonna get your best ET launching from and idle...it takes full advantage of your torque converter...although sometimes doing it this way creates bad 60's if u already have traction problems...a little pre-load is better if your not hooking very well cuz going from and idle "shocks" everything...i usually lauch from about 800rpms and thats purely becuase i react better that way...if u can get away w/launching from idle go for it...as far as shift pts find what works best for u...what was your MPH on those runs?
