I was reading earlier that you were saying that a TPI unit works better on a stock 305 better than on a 350 engine. I just recently installed a 350 in my camaro and have been juggling with the idea of putting a TPI unit on. But are you saying i can get more power out of just changing the intake manifold and a bigger throttle body? ....What would you recommend? Going to the TPI or staying with the TBI unit and changing the intake manifold?......Any idea what intake manifold would be best? Right now i just have the stock manifold and TBI unit from the 305 i took out. I mean why spend more money if i am going to get less power. I am not interested in how cool the TPI unit looks....I want POWER at a reasonable price.

I think i can help u out here. My car started off a 305 TBI then i put in a 355 with the TBI (bigger TB and injectors) then i got rid of the TBI and put TPI on.

For cheap power you should stay with the TBI but go to a holley 670 cfm unit or a 454 truck unit. You will have to have a custom prom burned or do it yourself. You would have higher top end power then stock TPI would make.

Personally, I am most happy with my TPI setup than any of them. But it was an extreme PIT to change over to and then get it right, and i still feel like i am working out small kinks. I get about 22 mpg on the higway. I love the stop light to stop light power. And with just about none of it being stock it pulls prtty good at the upper rpm. I really expect it to pull harder when i get my bigger exhaust. However, it is very expensive to buy aftermarket TPI parts. And now i have found out that i have leaky injectors and i have to buy 8 intead of 2

I think your best bet would be to go with a bigger TBI unit and learn PROMs. Even though i prefer TPI

TPI, TBI, all depends on what kind of bump stick you have in that 350 and how fast you want to spend. TPI is a normal intake system in my book. 90% of the cars on the road today have a TPI of some sorts.
If you want a street grunt engine then TPI is definatly (obviously) better than TBI. If you want high end and an extreamely flexible EFI system then TBI is the cheapest (not best). Any SFI is more advanced but it comes at a price.
The one thing TPI has going for it is that it's really a good torque monster and MAF systems are better at adapting to horsepower goodies. Either way a custom eprom is the only real way to get the most out of any EFI car.
Oh yeah, and I do believe that there is still no true TPI intake for vortec heads....go figure.
