air fuel ratio gauge question

air fuel ratio gauge question

im thinking of getting an air fuel ratio gauge and i was jsut wonderin how you go about hooking it up?do you just have to splice into the o2 sensor?or is there more involved.thanks.

Yup, just splice into the o2 wire at the ECM, tap into some power for the guage from the guages fuse, and locate a ground.. and thats it. Then try and watch the road.. I found it amusing to watch when I first installed it.

Just be sure to tap into the correct wire ("signal" wire) on a 3-wire O2 sensor!!! You'll blow the meter if you connect the O2 meter signal wire to the O2 sensors 12 volt heater supply wire. Wiring with a single-wire O2 sensor is a little simpler

And, solder the connections or create the best other connection you can... Cannot have any deterioration in the signal or possible short or ground out or you could be in trouble, never mind having to drive home in "limp-home" mode.
