I am sure some of you are aware I am on the holy grail quest to hit 300hp flywheel HP and still get 20 mpg. My list is the following. I am opening her up next week, so let me know “guesstimate” ET’s and if I will be anywhere near my goal.
My Car is:
1988 Camaro SC Convertible 305 TBI Lo3
Edelbrock TBI performer Intake Manifold
High Volume TBI fuel pump (brands?)
Turbo City Fuel regulator
Turbo City High flow TBI
Turbo City Matched Injectors
World Castings Sportsman II’s
Headers (Help with brands)
Y-Pipe Cat back exhaust
Aluminum Water pump
Mini Starter
Turbo City TBI spacer
Turbo City Injector Spacer
JET Fan switch
JET low temp stat
Stage II Jet chip
LT1 Cam
I currently have:
MSD 6al
8.8mm custom wires
MSD High Output Coil
K&N 14x3 Open air element
Hi po Distributer
I also need to keep everything 50 state legal, yup you guessed it IM in CA, which means emission troubles from the get go. First is all of this straight bolt on’s? From what I have seen and read it is, which is great for me. What about porting the heads for a little more breathing room? Also please no one telling me to switch to TPI lol I wanted to keep my low miles TBI. It has been through hell with me (August driving from Arizona to Southern California TWICE with no AC) and I love it. I have a lot more like gears and suspension, but wanted this post to be more horsepower related. I really need to see if this works guys. I have read the archives and really cant find anything that puts a combo together like this. I would like to hear your opinions on different manufacturers as well. Thanks guys,
James

don't buy any of that crap from turbo $hitty. it is a rip off. the tb of choice would be the holley with the 350 injectors. after further review i have determined that a tb spaccer isn't worth much if anything, it only maths out to be about 2.2 ft/lbs of torque and no hp.
also you are gonna want a custom prom in place of that off the shelf stage 2 chip.
world products torquer 305 heads would be more appropraite to the combo.
headers and y-pipe from edelbrock and slp will work good, any of the ones with a 1 5/8 primaries and 3inch collectors would be the way to go, also a 3inch cat and 3inch ct back.
if you wanna replace the water pump look into an electric one. it will weigh slightly more than the pulley driven version but it won't take away any power through parasitic drag. this would also eliminate the need for a t-stat.
the only thing that i think isd a debate is the intake. you are gonna wanna stay with a dual plane, but both the holley and edelbrock have their advantages. the edelbrock bolts right up and all your accesaries will work fine, it will produce more torque out of the high velocity runners. the holley will produce more top end power because of a larger plenumn area while supporting pretty good torque with it good runner design, but you have to inveent some **** to get all you accessaries to bolt up.
300hp really isn't a very big number to create, my car was putting 225 to the wheels with the stock cam and chip, so withthe combo you outlined 300 is reasonable.
