Hesitation off idle
Hesitation off idle
Recently I swapped my old intake for the Edelbrock TBI, and ever since then I get hesitation off idle. Last time I went to the track I notice that my 60ft. time fell some b/c of it.
Yes, I have upped my FP to 12psi and my timing was set correctly @ 4deg. like it was previously. My TV cable was re-adjusted for the taller intake, and everything was re-installed as it was before. The car just seems to shutter off idle and then it's fine. Any suggestions or simular problems?
Thanks in advance...Matt

That's common for the edelbrock TBI intake to do. It happened to me and at least two other members on the boards. Not too much you can do about it, if you read the description where you ordered it, it said it's for a 350 truck. I suspect it's designed for more fuel flow then our 305. You might gain a little top end with the manifold, at the cost of the off idle shudder. You can solve your problem at the track by holding the rpm ABOVE where the hesitation occurs when the stage. I hold mine at 1200rpm. - Randy
Thanks Randy For the info!! I stage at 1500rpm and still seem to get a slight hesitation off the line which has caused slower 60ft times but as you said my upper end benifits and ends up running 1 1/2 tenths faster and adding 2 mph. Not an impressive change for the price!
It is really noticable off idle though, sometimes bogging.
Thanks for the help...Matt

I just read your profile, you might want to check one more thing. Make sure there's no problems with your divorced EGR. Other then that, you have the same setup I do. I only notice my engine shudder from about 600-900 rpms, and it hardly happens at all, actually, I don't think it's happened since I put in 350 injectors, but don't do that, I'm dealing with soot in my exhaust because of them. Just out of curiosity Matt, what are your 60ft times, and your 1/4 mile times and speed? I can't understand why my 60ft sucks so bad, my best was a 2.4 sec. There are stockers that can run a sub 2.0 sec, I must be doing something wrong. Later- Randy
