TBI heads

I found a good price on a set of vortec heads, with roller rockers - $580 shipped.

How much diff. will I notice if i went form like 081 heads to the Vortec heads?

Re: TBI heads

081s are not TBI heads. For that price I would think you be better off getting the 081s worked up. By that's just my opinion.

Re: TBI heads

I worded that wrong.

I have 187's. I can buy 081's for like $50.00

If I buy 081's, STOCK will I notice a difference with the Lt1 cam and 081's?

Re: TBI heads

The unmolested 081's will give a modest improvement over the stock heads as they flow a little more. The vortecs will give the most improvement out of the three, but youll need to replace your intake as well.

Re: TBI heads

I know I'd be interested if I found 081s for $50. Especially since I'm guessing that is Canadian dollars. I bought a set of 416s for $60 American and thought THAT was a good deal. And they are stock and unported. Though they won't be by the time my 'bird finally sees them. But again, this is just how I would feel.

I disagree, the 187s flow better on the exhaust side than the 081s do. The 187s will edge out the 081s on the stock TBI 305.
