Fuel lines on Carb to TBI conversion

I'm converting to an aftermarket TBI on my '84 Camaro from the computer controlled Rochester. I am wondering what other people have done with the fuel lines for this type of conversion. The stock hard lines for delivery and return stop on the framerail on the passenger side across from the mechanical fuel pump. Now with the lines having to go to the back of the TBI I would think coming up the driver side with fuel hose would be easier but it also seems it would be nice to use the existing hard lines. Any pics of fuel line routing from a TBI conversion?

Thanks,

Glen

As with any TBI conversion you should actually have three lines going back to the fuel tank - 3/8" supply line rated for at least 50 PSI, 5/16" TBI return - low pressure and another 5/16" for charcoal canister purge. Since you have '84 Camaro in tank FP conversion from a later TBI camaro makes perfect sense. Do a search for part numbers.
For a clean conversion just transfer everything from a donor or at least copy factory equipment from TBI equipped car. You may want to consider this since smog checks are popping up all over country and direct conversion is a lot easier to get accepted by smog referee not to mention lower emissions to boot!

Sorry no pictures, but I just installed 6AN braided hose (summit) on the driver side rail.

I hope this helps - and GL

Re: Fuel lines on Carb to TBI conversion

I thought about getting the fuel lines from a TBI car but I think I'm just going to run braided hose. I got a Holley Commander system off of someone parting out a car and it comes with an external fuel pump plus I really don't want to drop the gas tank again. I like the idea of a clean burning car and still run a high flow cat but the charcoal canister is long gone along with the hard line for the gas tank vent. In parts of GA a car has to pass emissions for 25 years which that time is practically up for this Camaro. At the rate I'm going it won't be an issue. Unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply,

Glen
