i have a set of 081 heads being built at my local shop. im goign with 1.6rockers a new cam and new intake (tbi) is it goign to be worth that money to put it on my lo3 with headers? what kinda of chip tuning am i looking at.
i want some good power out of my little 305

 

Add up how much it's going to cost to rebuild the 081 heads and buy an intake, if it's anywhere near $800 you need to consider going to vortech heads and getting the vortec specific intake. You'll make 30-40 hp more than the 081's.

Any mods you make to the LO3 that can be swaped to a 350 later on is worth doing, you just have to tune it properly or you'll never be happy with it. Mail order won't cut it, you need to learn to DIY or be prepared to spend big $$$ to have it dyno tuned.
