is it my fuel pump?
hey guys,
i got a v-6 tbi that just stopped running in a parking lot. ie i was driving into a spot, half way in, my car died. i tried to restart it there numerous times with no prevail. got wd40 and sprayed it in and it would start for a second, so i assume that my fuel pump cr@pped out on me and needs replacing? any other thought or ideas on what it might be or what i should do?
thanks,
ike

Re: is it my fuel pump?
check the fuel pump fuse and replace the fuel filter first... maybe that's it!

just replace the filter. the last one was shot but still wont start with the new. when i took it off i turned on the car and there was a bit less fuel than should have been comming out. this mean i gotta do the pump itself? thanks for the reply.

Re: is it my fuel pump?
when my fuel pump died i had just pulled in with no issues, turned off the car and filled up the fuel tank(apparently this is a common occurance with dying fuel pumps). check your fuel pump fuse for fun, it could be it but I doubt it. it could also be your fuel pump, but check a few other things out first:
there are ways of checking the voltage on the coil, which could also be it. I don't know those ways. if you know someone who does, have them check it.
there's also potential that the battery is low. i've been through times where the battery was too low to start the car but high enough to run several lights in the car. so checking your battery and alternator wouldn't be a bad idea.
